Saskatchewan celebrates the Health Care Provider Week, honouring over 50,000 healthcare workers across the province. Since 2022, the province has committed more than $460 million through its Health Human Resources Action Plan to recruit, train, and retain healthcare professionals, with notable success in integrating internationally educated workers. The initiative has facilitated the licensing of over 390 internationally trained nurses and attracted more than 340 physicians to establish practices in Saskatchewan. The comprehensive strategy includes accelerated assessment and licensing processes for international healthcare professionals, rural recruitment incentives of up to $50,000, and over 900 new training seats across 33 healthcare programs.
