A US citizen has been sentenced to two years in prison following a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigation into human smuggling. Sahil Aziz, 32, pleaded guilty in Manitoba Provincial Court to organizing illegal entry into Canada and smuggling stolen credit card data. The case began when border officers discovered multiple identity documents and personal items belonging to another individual during a vehicle search at the Emerson port of entry in February 2025. Officers later confirmed that Aziz had been travelling with someone who did not cross the border with him. A subsequent search warrant revealed evidence of immigration violations and a substantial amount of stolen credit card information. Aziz received a total sentence of 34 months and has been in custody since his arrest.
