All of us have heard of Texas and Florida busing migrants to Northern cities run by Democratic mayors.  Excellent news out of Chicago, the place spiritual leaders have labored constructively to help migrants settling there.    

“Chicago was already going through a homelessness disaster earlier than Texas’ Republican governor, Greg Abbott, started directing 1000’s of migrants getting into his state to Democratic bastions . . . .   Because the transfers started in April 2022, greater than 20,000 immigrants, lots of them destitute Venezuelans, have arrived, and lots of Chicagoans have expressed considerations that the town’s sources are being drained . . . . 

On the similar time, advocates for the migrants . . .  have pushed again in opposition to makes an attempt to pit two marginalized teams in opposition to one another. These teams have stepped as much as help the brand new arrivals and in lots of instances have discovered allies in native religion leaders.

`There’s already loads of want current on this neighborhood,’ [Rev. David Black, pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, in the city’s South Side,] informed Faith Information Service. The problem, he stated, was `to help those that are coming into the neighborhood and in addition discover ways in which the scenario generally is a help to people who find themselves traditionally residing locally.’”
