Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced $7 million in funding for eight international migration projects during the 2026 International Migration Review Forum in New York. These investments will support migration systems and newcomer integration in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Canada also introduced five new pledges, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence in processing and efforts to combat migration-related misinformation. These initiatives aim to improve global labour mobility and strengthen international partnerships. By working with global partners, Canada seeks to ensure migration remains safe, orderly, and beneficial for both newcomers and the national economy.
