The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has opened immigration investigations into 78 foreign nationals and removed three individuals from Canada as part of the newly formed BC Extortion Task Force. Led by the RCMP and comprising 40 members from multiple law enforcement agencies, the task force was established in September to combat the surge in extortion-related violence targeting businesses in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, particularly within the South Asian community. The CBSA's role includes executing search warrants, conducting investigations under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and coordinating intelligence with provincial and federal partners across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.
