Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated its data on application inventories and backlogs, reporting that as of April 30, 2026, there were 2,153,900 applications across permanent residence, temporary residence, and citizenship streams in all IRCC inventories. Approximately 57% of applications are currently within service standards. IRCC aims to process 80% of applications within service standards, although complex cases may require additional review. Backlog levels remain uneven across categories, with 36% of temporary residence applications (including visitor, study, and work permits), 54% of permanent residence applications, and 23% of citizenship applications exceeding service standards.
