Canada’s Budget 2025 delivers significant support for workers through enhanced training and credential recognition

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne unveiled Budget 2025, set for November 4, introducing comprehensive workforce initiatives valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. The budget establishes a $97 million Foreign Credential Recognition Action Fund to expedite professional licensing, a $50 million national digital jobs platform, and enhanced Employment Insurance provisions totalling $3.6 billion. Additional measures include $75 million for skilled trades apprenticeships, a new Personal Support Workers Tax Credit worth up to $1,100 annually, and restrictions on non-compete agreements in federally regulated sectors. These strategic investments aim to strengthen economic integration pathways for both Canadian workers and newcomers across healthcare, construction, and technology industries.
